WOZNIAK GAINS MOMENTUM AT NATIONAL BANK CHALLENGER

Winnipeg, Man. – Aleksandra Wozniak took to the court Tuesday afternoon as she faced off against United States’ Ingrid Neel. Both athletes earned their quarter final berths in three sets, however, it was Wozniak that prevailed by defeating Neel in straight sets 6-3, 6-3. Wozniak, who had advanced to the fourth round of the French Open in 2009, is now set to play the winner of the quarterfinal match between Australia’s Arina Rodionova and Michaella Krajicek from the Netherlands.

One to Watch – Filip Peliwo

Filip Peliwo is a Canadian to watch during the Winnipeg National Bank Futures tournament as he competes in the Men’s Singles draw this week. Currently ranked 526 in the world, Peliwo was the second Canadian to be named a ITF Junior World Champion. Filip’s Round 2 match is set against James Wasserman (USA), and will be played on Centre Court following the Women’s Singles match at 10:00 AM on Thursday.
